Josie House Encrypted Backup

This is a private, owner-operated utility for keeping recoverable encrypted copies of the owner's local Josie system in Google Drive. It is not a public signup service.

The utility makes a local snapshot, encrypts it on the owner's computer with restic, and uploads the encrypted repository through rclone. It requests Google's drive.file permission. That permission is limited to files the app creates or files the owner explicitly opens or shares with the app; it is not blanket access to Drive. This utility's current workflow uses the permission for its own backup repository and does not offer a Drive file picker.

The recovery passphrase is held outside Google Drive. Google can see encrypted repository-object metadata, such as object names, sizes, and upload activity, but not the original backup contents or original filenames inside the encrypted repository.

The owner can revoke access through their Google Account. Revocation stops future access; it does not automatically remove backup objects already stored in Drive.
